CHP-BS-1477-2715 Expandable House Plan Description and Details

This expandable, craftsman style, open floor plan offers a flexible way to afford a large luxury home in the future. Phase 1 features 1477 square feet with a large cathedral ceiling great room open to the dining room and spacious kitchen. The laundry is located in what will become the pantry in phase 2-3. The conveniently located covered and screened porches are part of phase 1 for immediate enjoyment. The 1 bedroom and bath will become a study and guest bath in the later building stages. The bedroom additions and garage/apartment can easily be built without disrupting the livability in the phase 1 section. THE STORY BEHIND THE EXPANDABLE CRAFTSMAN HOUSE PLAN DESIGN

We originally designed this expandable craftsman style home for a young couple who spent most of their home building budget to purchase a gorgeous piece of land for their dream home. Although they eventually would need a large home, they could now only afford a small house. Not wanting to give up their great location in order to move to a larger house later on, they opted to build a flexible, expandable home, one that fit their needs and budget at a pace they could handle, avoiding the hassle of selling and moving. This expandable, build-in-stages method of affordable homeownership is an ideal solution for many young would-be homeowners.
