THE STORY BEHIND THE SMALL HOME PLAN DESIGN

We originally designed this small house plan for two women (a divorcee and a widow) who wanted to benefit from pooling their resources to be able to afford a small but comfortable home. Having dual master suites was a must so that each could have their own space and privacy (one was fastidious and the other was the opposite). Both had family and grown children who liked to visit so a decent sized guest bedroom with bath that could also double as a home office was the answer. They both liked to cook and entertain, so we made sure to provide an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings. Due to knee surgery for one of the women mobility was a factor, therefore, everything had to be all on one level and for the other woman a basement was important for all her “stuff”. During warm summer evenings the large screened porch is their favorite hangout.
